Summary of Courses

This page contains a summary of scuba diving courses that you can take.  Click on the yellow links for a more detailed description of each course.

Discover Scuba Diving





* 1 day

Not sure if you will enjoy scuba diving?  Then discover scuba diving is the way to find out.  You will spend a few hours learning the basics.  You will get a chance to breathe underwater to see if scuba diving is right for you.  The techniques you will learn can be applied to future classes should you decide to continue on.

Open Water Diver Course





*5 days

This course is the course that will get you certified as a diver.  In addition to learning in the classroom you will make 5 dives in the pool and 4 dives in open water.  Once you complete this course you will be certified to dive on your own to a depth of 60 feet.

Adventure Diver Course





* 2 - 3 days

The Adventure Diver Course is the intermediate diver course.  In this course you will complete 3 additional dives from a select list of dive types.  The 3 dives will count toward the 5 dives required to become an Advanced Open Water Diver.

 Advanced Open

 Water Diver





 * 3 - 4 days

The Advanced Open Water Diver Course consists of 5 dives including navigation and deep diving.  Completing this course will allow you to dive on your own to a depth of 130 feet.  Completion of this course will also allow you to take the Rescue Diver Course.

Emergency First Response Course





* 1 day

This course is a requirement for the Rescue Diver Course.  However, it can also be taken as a stand-alone course.  In the course you will learn CPR techniques including the use of an AED.

Rescue Diver Course





* 4 - 5 days

This course is for Advanced Open Water Divers who want to learn how to rescue others and themselves.  Although diving is a relatively safe activity accidents can happen.  This course prepares you for what to do in an emergency, which may save a life.

Divemaster

Course





* 4 - 5 weeks

Divemaster is the first step for a diving professional.  In this course you will learn to assist instructors with teaching.  Leadership techniques will be stressed.  Completion of this course allows you to work as a diving professional.

Specialty Course





* Dependent upon Course

PADI offers many courses that specialize in a particular subject or diving technique.  Each course takes your diving skills to a new level.

Master Scuba Diver Course







Master Scuba Diver is the highest rating that a non-professional diver can achieve.  A Master Scuba Diver has completed the Rescue Diver Course and 5 additional Specialty Courses.
